Mission Statement

Local Love Ministry is a charitable, faith-based nonprofit dedicated to uplifting the hearts and spirits of nursing home residents and caregiving staff through compassionate connection, joyful presence, and spiritual encouragement. Rooted in Christ’s love, laughter, and light, we bring the warmth of home into nursing homes by helping meet physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and affirming that every individual is seen, valued, and deeply loved.

We pursue God through prayer and worship and share Christ’s love through selfless giving, humble service, and wholehearted love. This is more than a program—it is a movement shaped by Christ’s call to love one another. Together, we work to ease the loneliness and isolation often experienced in nursing homes by creating meaningful moments of hope, dignity, and belonging through celebrations, worship services, prayer, companionship, and practical support. We also equip volunteers, churches, and community partners to serve with compassion and purpose.

Companionship, Connection & Personal Care

We offer one-on-one visits and compassionate presence to residents who may feel lonely, forgotten, or overlooked. Through conversation, listening, prayer, and simple acts of love, our volunteers build meaningful relationships that remind each person they are seen, valued, and deeply loved.

We also extend this care to nursing home residents during hospital stays, when they may feel especially vulnerable and alone. Through prayer, Scripture, encouragement, and caring visits, we seek to bring comfort and remind residents they are not forgotten and that God is near.

Our ministry also helps meet practical and emotional needs through support such as free haircuts, visits from guest performers, licensed therapy animal teams, and community groups. Whenever possible, we bring gentle touches of warmth and joy that help shared spaces feel more welcoming and home-like.

Spiritual Programming

Through Christ-centered conversation, prayer, worship, and God’s Word, we offer spiritual encouragement that brings hope, peace, and comfort. Our ministry includes Bible studies, hymn singing, Scripture reflections, bedside prayer, and handmade devotional items prepared with care and filled with truth and encouragement.

We meet residents where they are spiritually, physically, and emotionally, offering prayerful support and a loving presence. Through these moments, residents are reminded that God is near, they are deeply loved, and their faith matters in every season of life.

Missional Community

We bring churches, schools, and community partners together with nursing home residents to build meaningful relationships rooted in compassion, service, and love. Through fellowship, worship, and intergenerational connection, residents are reminded that they are part of a larger community that cares.

As others come alongside this mission, hearts are strengthened on both sides. These shared experiences build empathy, deepen faith, and create a lasting sense of belonging.

Celebrations, Engagement & Enrichment

We host joyful group events that bring residents together through music, games, crafts, shared meals, and seasonal celebrations. These moments create laughter, spark memories, and help residents feel seen, included, and cared for.

Our volunteers serve with warmth and intention, adapting activities to support a wide range of physical, cognitive, and sensory needs. Above all, we hope to bring the warmth of home into nursing homes through compassion, joy, and love in action.

Caring for Caregivers

Caring for nursing home residents requires long hours, emotional strength, and constant compassion. Caregivers give so much of themselves, often with little recognition.

We seek to encourage and uplift them through prayer, kindness, and appreciation. By caring for caregivers, we also help strengthen the environment around residents and support a culture of compassion throughout the facility.

Why It Matters

Many individuals living in nursing homes—both seniors and younger adults with complex medical needs—experience deep loneliness, limited mobility, and long periods of isolation. For some, days pass without meaningful conversation, touch, or the feeling of being truly seen. The transition into long-term care often brings loss of independence, separation from home and community, and profound disconnection.

At Local Love Ministry, we believe no one should feel forgotten or alone in this season of life. Our mission is to bring community, encouragement, and the love of Christ into nursing homes. Through presence, prayer, and compassionate service, we remind residents that they are deeply loved.

We believe service is a sacred exchange. As we offer love, laughter, and spiritual encouragement, we are also enriched by the wisdom, faith, and life stories of those we serve—testimonies of resilience that point us back to God’s faithfulness.

Through consistent relationships, we cultivate a true sense of family and belonging. By sharing meals, celebrating milestones, praying together, and gathering in fellowship, we bring the warmth of home into nursing homes easing loneliness, restoring hope, and affirming dignity.

Prolonged loneliness affects not only emotional well-being, but physical and mental health as well. Meaningful connection can reduce stress, support overall well-being, and enhance quality of life.

Through our programs, residents experience empathy, companionship, and encouragement from devoted volunteers, often forming relationships that feel like family. In these moments, joy is renewed, hope is restored, and residents and caregivers alike are reminded they are not alone—reflecting the promise of Isaiah 41:10, that God is with us, strengthens us, and upholds us through every season of life.

Who We Are

Local Love Ministry is a Georgia-based nonprofit devoted to uplifting the hearts and spirits of nursing home residents. Rooted in Christ’s love, we remind residents that they are cherished, valued, and not forgotten. We bring the warmth of home into nursing homes – restoring hope, affirming dignity, and shining God’s light. We do all things in love, answering Christ’s call with compassion, joy, and steadfast presence.

Our Story

Local Love Ministry was founded by a small group of church members who shared a deep burden and calling to serve residents living in nursing homes. What began as a simple act of obedience quickly opened our eyes and our hearts to a profound need.

When we first walked through the doors, we witnessed both great joy and great loneliness. Residents were hungry for love, connection, and meaningful presence. Many had unmet physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and for most, visitors were rare. Yet the joy that came simply from being there was unmistakable.

We began visiting once a month, listening and learning as God revealed where the needs were greatest. As relationships grew, so did the ministry. We discovered that many residents could not afford basic services like haircuts, and God faithfully provided the right people at the right time. The gratitude from residents and staff was overwhelming. The atmosphere began to shift—residents gathered eagerly when we arrived, their faces lighting up, often asking, “When are you coming back?”

We also recognized a deep spiritual hunger. There were no regular church services, and residents longed for worship, prayer, and encouragement rooted in faith. In response, we developed Christ-centered programs to meet these needs with consistency, compassion, and joy.

Today, our hearts are more on fire than ever. Through continued service in nursing homes, the needs we have encountered and the impact we have seen have only deepened our calling. Many residents continue to live in isolation, yet they respond with overwhelming joy and gratitude when someone simply shows up to care.

Our desire is to grow this ministry—to reach more nursing homes, welcome more volunteers, and extend Christ-centered love to even more residents who are longing for connection. What began as a calling has become a steadfast mission to show up consistently and love well. In the spirit of 1 John 3:18, we seek to love not just with words, but with actions and in truth—bringing love, laughter, and the light of Christ into nursing homes.

How We Serve

Local Love Ministry brings together volunteers from across the community to share love, laughter, and the light of Christ with nursing home residents. We believe the body of Christ is beautifully displayed when we serve together in unity and compassion.

Our ministry reflects the spirit of Acts 2:42–47 through genuine fellowship, meeting needs, and joyful worship. Guided by Scripture—Psalm 118:24: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it”—our programs create meaningful moments filled with joy, connection, and Christ-centered love.

Core Values

Our ministry is guided by compassion, dignity, integrity, joy, spiritual encouragement, and servant-hearted love. These values shape how we serve residents, support caregivers, and work together as volunteers and community partners to bring love, laughter, and meaningful presence into nursing homes.
